"Bingley's admiration has been overflowing as far as Miss Bennet is concerned, but so far, there is no evidence that he considered Elizabeth as more than "very pretty". So, why would Darcy be "overreacting" to his friend's opinion on so harmless a subject?"
Well, the narrator tells us that "Bingley had never met with prettier girls or pleasanter people in his life".
