the original point was

counter argument is "it is impossible deny love so the idea of Darcy saying to himself I can allow or prevent myself from falling in love is nonsensical"
Now an inability to deny love does not mean an inability to stop expressing it.
So Darcy stops the actions that would express his love. The love, I argue, he can nothing about.
And being in love while trying to deny it is usually the hero's job.
