in consequence of the missive, One of the two last, penned by Therese
has been overflowing as far as Miss Bennet is concerned, but so far, there is no evidence that he considered Elizabeth as more than "very pretty". So, why would Darcy be "overreacting" to his friend's opinion on so harmless a subject? With the remarks he has made about the neighborhood, Darcy is certainly catty, critical, and fastidious-- so that remark doesn't seem out of character.
