..on their entry, as adaptations show us. Maybe a buzz of conversation, and certainly much interest, but not gawking as if the King had arrived. Bingley certainly wouldn't have dashed into the dance as P&P II indicated. Nor would the dance have stopped if one was in progress. Our narrator is useful here and steps up as much as is needed. Despite the rural setting,I'm sure normal etiquettes would have been observed. That a high amount of interest would be in evidence is for certain, and the visitors probably responded to their own sense of importance by assuming the air of such.
