I didn't know there would be a hero. By Chapter 3 I was certain that Elizabeth was the heroine, but that was it.
I certainly didn't think of Bingley as the hero, primarily because he seemed to be paired with Jane and consequently couldn't be paired w/ Elizabeth.
But if the novel were really about single men of fortune who need to be married, then I think Bingley could be the hero -- and the story could cover his difficulties in finding the perfect wife (difficulties in discovery and in overcoming any obstacles).
