Lyme seems to have acted as a catalyst to Anne. Either the fine sea-air, or the admiring looks given by a stranger (and affirmed by the Captain), or from a mixture of different things, she finally starts to blossom anew.

Upon her arrival at Bath, and once she realizes that the Captain is free, she does not sit still. As before, she has more insight into the Captain's thoughts and feelings than he does of hers, but she works on getting across the message through his thick skull, that she is still his if he would but ask. ;-)
