Several posters below mentioned that they disagreed with Shaphard's annotations regarding Mrs. Smith's revelations. I wanted to note, if anyone were trying to decide which annotation to buy in future, that I prefer someone commenting on something, even if I disagree.
You see, Morrison has nothing on Mrs. Smith's motivations or timing, on Mr. Elliot's sudden demasking and reversal, on whether the plot has weaknesses that need shoring, or whether this is indeed as Author Austen would have wanted to leave it.
Morrison is thorough, not only on her own opinion of Anne's inner life and her relationship with Capt. Wentworth, but on other's opinions thereof. But Morrison is silent on some of the more controversial issues (to judge by Pemberley posters).
