Anne gets proactive.   Written by Rachel G (10/29/2011 10:06 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Anne's Courage (Long), penned by BarbaraB
Are you new?

When Frederick comes to Bath and Anne starts taking the initiative I'm really cheering her on. Her manoeuvres are so slight, but they're effective. At the concert she "makes yet a little advance" towards him - then she draws him to her out of the line with her gentle "How do you do?". She is ready to have a further conversation with him if she gets the chance, no matter what Lady Russell may think. She contrives to work her way to the end of the bench, laughing at herself as she does so for resembling the inimitable Miss Larolles. The scenes are drawn with a fine brush on ivory indeed.

Goodness it's stirring stuff. This is a woman who has grown up and who knows exactly what she wants. She is finally seizing every opportunity to make it happen, and we're urging her on as she does so. Atta Girl!!!
