I agree that the Louisa-Benwick romance could be very nice and credible, but I think it is handled a little too abruptly. Of course they are not the main characers, but I feel that this part could have been expanded a little e.g. instead of the sudden engagement, if Capt Benwick had accompanied Louisa back to Uppercross before that, and everyone there begin to notice how close they had become, Mary writing to Anne speculating about it, and after that the engagement -- instead of Mary writing to Anne about the definite news of the engagement without any previous hint or indication.
