We're into the last batch of chapters, so I assume that the danger of linking to spoilers has passed.

I stand by what I said in the March 2011 thread, linked below.

In particular, I think that Mrs Smith doesn't notice how much of an intellectual and moral heavyweight Anne has grown up to be. She only notices that she's likely to inspire better treatment than the first Mrs Elliot received.
