Time to stir the pot on the ambivalence of Mrs Smith...   Written by jeffrey (10/26/2011 4:15 p.m.)
Are you new?

A year and a half ago, I posted on what I thought was an inconsistency in Mrs Smith's character that I could not square.

It concerns Mrs Smith's flip-flop on Mr Elliot and the possibility of him being a match for Anne.

David Shapard goes in to great detail on this issue in the annotated version.

What do you, fellow group-readers, think of this? I'm still not on point with it.

(And Cheryl: I hope the inclusion of a link to a former discussion on this topic is permissible)

Is Mrs Smith flip-flopping?
