No, not at all too long and your arguments are strong indeed. I was going to refer readers back to my post #52247 but it has apparently sort-of disappeared. In that post, I gave Lady Russell the benefit of the doubt because the incurable romantic that I am would tend to minimize LR' faults, in spite of your logical evidence to the contrary.

Now that we are reaching the climax of the story, I still consider Lady Russell the pivotal individual between the traditional past and the progressive future with Anne being the catalyst who finally urges LR out of her historical inertia where she has been trapped for much of the story.

Yes, as are most all of Miss Austen's intriguing personalities, she has her weaknesses but she also has the self-realization to correct them and move forward. (BTW, I'm still luvin' Lady Russell!)
