Your quotation about a look being enough for the Harvilles to know each other's thoughts reminds me of the Christmas Eve scene in "Emma" when they discover that it's snowing out and Emma and Mr. Knightley, like an old married couple, come to a decision with only a few words spoken between them. I guess we know one of the signs of a compatible couple in JA's novels! ;-)
