My first GR ...   Written by gianni (10/20/2011 2:11 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Already half-way through; Group-readers: you are amazing..., penned by jeffrey
Are you new?

... was the last P&P. I'd already read the book a dozen times before that (in just three years! -- that's how hard JA hit me), and had strong opinions, some rather disruptive :-).

Some of my opinions changed because participants forced me to really think about what I was saying; some were reinforced for the same reason; and I learned a great deal about the text simply from having an abundance of background information to illuminate my reading (just as Cheryl and Rachel G, particularly, are giving us right now. Yes, there are others who contribute such, and I appreciate them, too), which I wouldn't have bothered to do myself, even if I'd had the time and resources.

Yes, slowing down has been a tremendous benefit; but an even greater benefit has been the discussion with other enthusiasts, even when I still end up disagreeing with them. Thanks, RoP, for this amazing benefit of your company!
