A fine family piece   Written by Cheryl (10/19/2011 11:04 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Christmas at the Musgroves', penned by AmyFlo
Are you new?

Isn't it a great scene? My large, extended family always used to have a party on Christmas Eve when I was a child. The chaos and Mrs. Musgrove's "little quiet cheerfulness at home," is instantly recognizable to me. I imagine that Jane Austen, with her large family and scores of nieces and nephews, knew what she was talking about.

Although, the older I get, the more I can sympathize with Lady Russell's point of view. ;-)
