I had not considered parallels with the other novels, but it's interesting to think about.

I think the analogy with P&P works best. Both here and in 'Persuasion' we see the removal of the heroine to new scenes, and the appearance of potential new love interests for her. These changes are placed at the mid-point of the novels, acting as a sort of hinge in their structure.
