The happy Crofts.   Written by Rachel G (10/13/2011 5:42 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, The Crofts (long), penned by Ramya
Are you new?

Another fan of the Croft's here. They bring a welcome element of good sense and happiness to the cast of characters, and lift the mood whenever they appear.

Their partnership seems a very modern picture of an ideal marriage. I think this is partly because their childlessness allows Mrs Croft much greater freedom to travel with her husband than most women of the time would enjoy. It could also be because the Admiral seems content with a wife who appears the more forceful character, and has no problem with her using her intelligence to the full.

Maybe that part of the reason Mrs Croft loves him so much. The Admiral as written seems the lesser character of the pair, but he must have more to recommend him than meets the eye to make a woman such as Sophy Croft so outstandingly happy in his company. What is his secret ingredient?? ;-D
