Thanks for pointing this out Jean B! I had not looked at it in that light before, but definitely can see "a bridge between the quiet life of Uppercross and the arrival of a Man of action, Captain Wentworth, to bring the staid life some needed umph." Well said! Wentworth's arrival does shake things up quite a bit - someone to bring new stories to their gatherings, a new person of interest to both the men and women of Uppercross. It's as if he arrived on a new wind!
