I am much in agreement that both Mary and Elizabeth would benefit significantly from less concern for themselves and even a little bit of "habits of utility abroad" and being of use to others. They both do seem to live for themselves alone, and need something - even an illness! - to snap them out of it. Somehow, I fear it is too late for both of them.
