Visuality in Persuasion   Written by Mara (10/10/2011 11:37 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Austen's prose, penned by Cheryl
Are you new?

I was going to post a comment on the very same quotation! This passage has truly reminded me of Woolf's prose; it's so breath-taking and "visual" that it resembles a 20th-century piece of fiction. What struck me while I was re-reading it yesterday afternoon is its similarity to a film-script: it seems Austen thought it to be represented on stage!
