I think we can be fairly sure he is. The sentence in which 'obliging landlord' appears is all about what Sir Walter is to her, ie Lady Russell, not just general statements about him:
independent of his claims as an old acquaintance, an attentive neighbour, an obliging landlord, the husband of her very dear friend, the father of Anne and her sisters. Another clue is the name of her home, Kellynch Lodge, which definitely suggests to me that it is part of the estate. |
