Estate village   Written by Robbin (10/9/2011 9:28 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Ah-ha!, penned by Rachel G
Are you new?

Lady Russell settled close to Lady Elliot “in the village of Kellynch” (1). I guess the village is part of the Kellynch estate thus Sir Walter is her landlord. Taking The Novels as a reference it seems large estates had their own village. There is also a village of Longbourn (P&P, 7), Mrs. Norris moves into the White House owned by Sir Thomas in the village (MP, 4) and there is a village of Barton (S&S, 6), a village of Delaford (S&S, 45)and a village of Allenham (S&S, 16).
