Mary   Written by Nikki N (10/8/2011 7:55 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Mary, penned by Bridget D
Are you new?

Mary is often very tiresome, complaining of being neglected -- but perhaps ther was a grain of truth about it when she was a child. Elizabeth was definitely Sir W's favourite, he held both Anne and Mary as of "very inferior value" and neglected them both. But Anne had lady R, who loved all three girls as her friend's daughters, but Anne was Lady R's favourite, it was only in Anne that she felt the mother to revive again. I'm sure Lady R paid some attention to Mary, but Mary being so sensitive and touchy must have felt that Lady R preferred Anne to her. Mary married very young, at 18, (she must have been delighted to be the first of her sisters to marry!). After marriage, Lady R probably felt that she need not bother much with Mary.
