Makes me wonder about Mary   Written by Erica M. (10/8/2011 1:24 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Lady Russell & the Elliots, penned by Robbin
Are you new?

I wonder why she did not take to Lady Russell after her mother's death, as Anne seems to have done. Since Lady Russell loves them all, as the text points out, she must have interacted with all three as children. Elizabeth is a daddy's girl and happy to be so, and probably rated Lady Russell's kindness lower than Anne would have. But Mary was not her father's favorite.

I wonder if she is like another Mary we all know, trying to be a daddy's girl but not quite making it? We see Mary likes to put on airs, but can't quite equal the cold elegance of Elizabeth. Maybe she's stuck in the habit of trying to be like father's favorite so she can have his love as well?
