I am not sure that I agree that Anne is almost perfect. I have to remind myself of the era and place she inhabits when I start to feel that she is being too much the doormat! She does seem to be stuck in society that is much inferior to her in every way. Under the circumstances, Anne does seem to make the best of it, tend to her own emotions and do her best to be useful and find her happiness in that.

As we go forward I will try to give more attention to Anne's qualities and her faults.
