Sympathy for Anne   Written by Erica M. (10/3/2011 10:42 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Ch 1: A mature Miss Austen already struts out her sense of humor, penned by jeffrey
Are you new?

This was what struck me on this reading (I've lost count of how many times I've read it). Sir Walter is so extremely unlikable, although funny in a sad sort of way. I almost wonder if the joke is rather elaborate: since she was "only Anne", Sir Walter's vanity is so great it even overwhelms a book about his own daughter! That could be my own bizarre fourth-wall humor coming into play, however. :-)
