Are you new?

Though the title page says "1818," the book was published posthumously in December of 1817, in a four volume set which included Northanger Abbey. Persuasion was Volumes III and IV, and was given its name by Jane's brother, Henry. Jane had thought to name it "The Elliots." It had an original print run of 1750 books and sold for 24 shillings. Jane willed all royalties from her books to her sister Cassandra and this double book set garnered Cassandra £500.
