Just on the visit to the cottage...   Written by Rae (11/2/2008 4:03 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Wentworth's Bad Behavior, penned by BarbaraB
Are you new?

"...and Captain Wentworth proposing also to wait on her (Mary) for a few minutes if not inconvenient; and though Charles had answered for the child's being in no such state as could make it inconvenient, Captain Wentworth would not be satisfied without his running on to give notice." Anne is the lucky beneficiary of the announcement. It gives her a few minutes to prepare.

I am absolutely convinced that we are supposed to read between the lines here - he cannot say anything about Anne (they have only acknowledged each other as 'slight acquaintances' on each side) but he goes a long way to make sure his arrival is not a surprise. But I am happy to agree to differ!
