of course..I was just making a little joke. Frankly I think that Captain Wentworth is so good in his profession that he could rise anyway. There was always enough stuff going though not actually a 'real war' that would give him opportunity and he was a man people liked. I have always assumed that Mary's worst nightmare came true.
