I know he blames himself, and of course it was his decision not to write in '08, but I so agree with you about why he did not. He had been humiliated by Sir Walter, disdained by Lady Russell, rejected by Anne because she had had her mind changed, everything he had to offer spurned...the wonder is that he thought about it at all.

He's passionate and intense, but he's not an idiot. LOL!!!
