|JA does vindicate Lady Russell at this point

in consequence of the missive, Lady Russell vindicated, penned by Patricia P
and does tell us right out that "She loved Anne better than she loved her own abilities." But, does JA leave us with just an inkling that LR's initial actions stemmed in her belief that she knew best (her own abilities) and has been bested in the end by enduring love, a factor that she did not allow in her arguments 8 years earlier.
This phrasing has always left me uneasy about what JA is actually saying about LR's persuasion of the young Anne, but struck me in a stronger manner as I was reading this on the plane coming home. In light of my softer feelings re: LR earlier in the GR, I am still not comfortable with forgiving her.
