Second attachment was an open question in week 2, but now that Anne's character has been unfolded further, let's try to close it off. :-)

Ch21>... be the conclusion of the present suspense good or bad, her affection would be his for ever. Their union, she believed, could not divide her more from other men than their final separation.

Ch23>"... All the privilege I claim for my own sex (it is not a very enviable one: you need not covet it), is that of loving longest, when existence or when hope is gone!"
