He was a sensitive and romantic character and there was Louisa right in front of him and Anne was not. If Anne had hung around and nursed Louisa and continued to talk poetry with him..well we will never know. He is not a young man who goes seeking a mate apparently but finds one to hand-like a close friends sister.
