You expressed my thoughts on this very well. CW is (imo) acting in a very human (although "cruel") manner. He still seems to be hurt by her lack of faith/trust in him and as Anne herself states, he has not forgiven her. It is not often that people are able to put aside hurt feelings and be the bigger person right off the bat. Again, Jane showing how well she understood people.
