Ch 17: "She never could accept him [Mr Elliot]. And it was not only that her feelings were still adverse to any man save one; her judgment, on a serious consideration of the possibilities of such a case, was against Mr. Elliot."

OK, I don't get this. I thought by this time, Anne had given up CW in Louisa's favor. The chapter went on to talk about deficiencies in Mr Elliot's character, but it did not explain why Anne's feelings "were still adverse to any man save one?"

BTW, I'm glad that Anne was not easily persuaded this time, as LR clearly was trying to sway her toward Mr Elliot :-)
