Looking-glasses et al   Written by Rose G (10/21/2008 8:27 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, The Crofts at Kellynch Hall, penned by MarianneR
Are you new?

This passage has always amused me, too. Admiral Croft is clearly a much more practical man than his landlord and, perhaps, knows more about Kellynch Hall than its owner. I also struggle with the idea of Sir Walter visiting his laundry room on a regular basis.

I just love the image of Admiral and Mrs Croft shifting the unnecessary mirrors themselves to 'other quarters'.

As for the smoking chimney, perhaps the room Admiral refers to was used as something else by the Elliots?
