What I love about this bit Written by JoAnn (10/20/2008 4:01 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Mary's jealousy, penned by Rachel G

is that it shows that Anne is not indifferent to Mary's attitude. She never complains, she never speaks ill of anyone, but in this passage we see that she is making a conscious choice to withhold information from Mary specifically for the purpose of avoiding Mary's reaction.
