found your way around the Gazetteer, JanELT. They are designed just for this purpose, to follow our characters around England or, indeed to more distant parts of the world.

I like to think they help to dispel any lingering belief that JA was merely a provincial, domestically inclined woman with no desire to know more of the world ;-) I think she knew a lot about it and her natural intelligence enabled her to make a very significant, accurate and reasoned choice when it came to picking her locations.

You may not know that there is also a P+P Gazetter and an Emma Gazetteer ( the Northaner Abbey one is in the early stages of construction).
