Just my very personal idea   Written by Anna Ruby (10/18/2008 8:35 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, I didn't think CW's arrival..., penned by Line
Are you new?

I have a feeling (a mere, very personal feeling, not supported by anything in the text at all) that maybe, while writing this strange passage (quite vivid, whether you like it or not) Jane Austen had someone specific in mind.

I get this impression whenever I read some of her very "visual" descriptions of people and characters.

This particular passage may be a little disturbing to some people, but nonetheless you get a very clear picture of this big, otherwise carefree woman having one night an extraordinary burst of sorrow for this lost, unregretted child.

Not a "neutral" passage, to be sure.
