Henrietta's comment regarding Lady Russell   Written by Sandi J (10/18/2008 1:07 a.m.)
Are you new?

Near the beginning of Chapter 12, Henriettamake this comment to Anne:

"i have always heard of Lady Russell as a woman of the greatest influence with everybody! I always look upon her as able to persuade a person to anything!"

I totally missed this the first time I read this. This is a fine example of JA's sense of irony. I am curious as to who Henrietta has heard has been influenced by the very persuasive Lady R? Is it possible others might know about Lady Russel's influence over Anne's decision to reject Captain Wentworth?
