as I thought it might've been the model for the Captain too. Thanks Rae and Tessa for these posts. Makes a lot of sense to see them as the basis for his thoughts on marriage.

In many ways, on the walk to Winthrop through the hedgerows, it seems Louisa has picked up on this, and is trying to assure him she would want to be with her husband, wherever he is, etc.
