The Crofts Marriage   Written by Tessa (10/17/2008 11:31 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, The Crofts, penned by Rae
Are you new?

If Frederick is 31 now and the Crofts have been married for 15 years, he would have been about 16 when they met and married. He almost certainly would have been a midshipman or a First Class Volunteer at the time and may have already been serving aboard a ship. Sophie would have been 23.

I agree that their situation would have made a very strong impression on him and been his model for a happy marriage.
