I split the reference to weight and sighings into 2   Written by Susan L (10/16/2008 10:49 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, I think it relates to the previous paragraph, penned by Graciela
Are you new?

I see the reference to weight, as do others, to the notion that larger people are more jolly ... with JA trying to say that larger people are as entitled to be unhappy as anybody else.

I also think of the large fat sighings as unrelated to Mrs Musgrove's size ... JA could merely be describing the sighs and the words used evoke deep, loud sighs for me.

It just seems a little unfortunate that the two references to weight appear so close to each other, and aren't PC for the 21st century.
