Hmmm. Was it that abrupt?   Written by JanELT (10/16/2008 10:15 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Abruptness of Louisa's fall, penned by Cathy Allen
Are you new?

I thought that Louisa was trying to get near CW, and the Lyme Leap was no different from the other times when Louisa had come up with situations to support her infatuation (which have been pointed out in another thread). Therefore I was totally not surprised when Louisa "ran up the steps to be jumped down again."

What I was surprised was how badly she was hurt. I have never been to The Cobb, so I have no idea how high up those steps were that JA described. I have no idea what kind of a fall it would have been. Anyone in the medical profession who might be able to shed some light on the fall?

Ch 12: "...she fell on the pavement on the Lower Cobb, and was taken up lifeless! There was no wound, no blood, no visible bruise; but her eyes were closed, she breathed not, her face was like death. The horror of that moment to all who stood around!"
