To show the consequences of behavior   Written by LouAnn (10/16/2008 9:36 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Abruptness of Louisa's fall, penned by Cathy Allen
Are you new?

I think the abruptness is designed to show the consequences of being stubborn, willful, or whatever you want to call it. I think this is also meant to suggest Wentworth, Harville and Benwick's lives at sea, when everything could change in a moment and men's lives were lost.

Wentworth called it 'firm' behavior, but now even he sees the possible bad consequences of sticking to your purpose.
