Depends which time line you look at, and causes vs effects   Written by Tom P2 (10/16/2008 4:54 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Things are not getting better for Anne, penned by Kathryn Ann
Are you new?

We're somewhat at cross-purposes here.

I didn't say specifically, but I was concentrating on the main time line of the story. If you also consider the flashback to the courtship eight years earlier, or Anne's previous visits to Uppercross, or even life at Kellynch before Sir Walter's improvidence came to light, then yes, things have indeed gone downhill.

You've paid more attention to causes than I did. (Opportunity comes because...; left with Benwick because...) I don't disagree, but suggest that despite these reasons to remain dispirited, Anne's actual behaviour is becoming noticeably more chatty and humourous.

It's rather a shame that the plan is for her to rejoin Sir Walter and Elizabeth soon!
