I had never thought of *that* angle, that CW was drawn to Uppercross where Anne was. I'm thinking now that Louisa then could possibly be viewed as the fallen log in the road in CW's gallop toward Anne. LOL. I'm sure that having Anne so near, almost within his grasp, must've gnawed at CW terribly.
