Everyone is so self-absorbed at Uppercross   Written by Martina (10/16/2008 12:27 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Wentworth's Manners to Anne, penned by Kathryn Ann
Are you new?

and no one has any inkling of the previous relationship between CW and Anne, that it makes me think that as long as one was polite enough to exchange basic civilities, keep one's voice well modulated, and call on neighbours, this qualified as good manners.

The only time that anyone notices that CW's manners to Anne are lacking is during the "altered" episode, where Mary says that "CW is not very gallant by you, Anne, though he was so attentive to me." Again, self-absorbed.

Mr. Elliott is also described as "a man of exceedingly good manners" after nothing more than running into Anne a second time in Lyme, looking at her again and apologizing.

Most vexing!
