Mrs Croft as a model   Written by MarianneR (10/15/2008 3:23 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, The Crofts, penned by Rae
Are you new?

I was already wondering why Mrs Croft is so thoroughly described in ch.6.We read of her bright dark eyes and good teeth as well as her open and decided manners. But you are right - when looking for a wife FW will always have had his sister in mind. (I realize such a tendency with several men even today!)Now the detailed description makes sense to me.

Can we say that Mrs. Croft was an atypical Regency woman? After all she seemed to be the one in control of the gig instead of the Admiral and she wasnīt complicated at all concerning missing comforts on board any ship.

But atpyical or not - I do love her and I hope Anne will grow into her example!
