I see your point, but IMO it might be harder than you think for Anne to show more "pride" here. She has learned the habit of self-effacement quite thoroughly for the last 8 years, plus CW's presence is making things even worse.

As for reciting poetry to herself, I don't see this as some kind of odd quirk on Anne's part, but as something she has always done anyway, even in the old days, that *adds* to her pleasure in nature. Also, I don't think she does it *instead* of talking to the others, but *as well*. Reciting poetry to ourselves might not be the first thing that would spring to our 21st-century minds during a beautiful walk in the country, but I think JA and her literary-minded contemporaries would consider it perfectly natural (not to mention a sign of the kind of sensitivity a superior woman like Anne should have)!
